Shout out to Bungalow 44 for making my
birthday celebration seamless and amazing.
For the gift of years…
gratitude and then some.

it does not mean to be in a place
where there is no noise, trouble,
or hard work. it means to be in
the midst of those things and
still be……..
CALM IN YOUR HEART.
In celebration of my birthday one year,
I decided to knit this cashmere ruching throw.
Every night at sunset I would sit in my
adirondack chair, by candlelight and knit.
The rhythm of the movement became
meditative in emptying my mind
and opening my heart. And in the
sanctuary of silence I realized that
that was enough and more. I believe
this is called abundance.
After I blew out my birthday candle
the following year and knitted the last stitch,
I realized this had become the
tapestry of my life.
Sitting on the ledge of my porch on a hot summer night,
under a blanket of stars..I prayed. Each star standing at
attention with it’s own brilliance…as if to listen closely
to each and every thought I had.
For awhile, I thought my prayers were answered…
but upon reflection recently, I have been thinking…
“I’m beginning to wonder if some of the stars I was
wishing on, weren’t just airplanes.”

I know that everything happens for a reason.
I wish I could find one.

In time we will each find our own rhythm,
rooted by rich soil and quiet renewal.
Observing this worker in the vineyard last
Sunday, I was reminded of the Amish and
how they are committed to the mastery of
farming the land to grow things and do
work they feel is purposeful. They are
not seeking satisfaction in having more.
While they labor, they get close to God.
In the silence of the moment, in the
stillness of the morning, I found this to be
my sanctuary of meditation and gratitude for
having enough.
