The Tighter You Hold On To Something The More It Slips Away

“A person has three choices in life. You can swim against the tide and get exhausted

or you can tread water and let the tide sweep you away

or you can swim with the tide and let it take you

where it wants you to go.”

-Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider

I am learning to let go, one choice at a time.

I turn up the volume of my voice and silence the negative ones kept

tightly contained in a jar, that keep me where I am

from where I want to be. This is what Anne Lamott suggests. I think she

might be on to something big.

  1. I LOVE that you are doing this, Robin. It’s not the talk show that I’ve told you that you could have, but maybe it will lead into one. I enjoy hearing your thoughts and look forward to reading what you’re learning as you process out loud–well at least the parts that you want us to hear. Congratulations for taking the initiative to begin this adventure! I’m for you!Joy

  2. Words are a gift, and you, my dear, are a treasure. I applaud your letting go and your willingness to take us on your journey with you.

I can’t wait to see how far and wide the tide takes you. Enjoy the swim.

  3. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog!
And I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this quote:
“The purpose of life is to DISCOVER your gift, the MEANING of life is to give it away.”
    -Thoreau
You are so creative, Robin, and I love how you write,
YOUR gift, so I’m glad you’re giving it away!!!!

    Looking forward to future postings!

Like you this is elegant, clear, engaging and very quieting to the soul.

It is really a beautiful piece of work in art, style and prose. What is most striking but not surprising is that it reflects who you are and what you speak to , where your heart lies
and who you are in the world.

It is truly inspiring to me
thank you for sharing with me

You and your work have always touched the core of my heart
    love
